I am an accredited Somatic Inquiry and Forest Therapy Practitioner (Shinrin Yoku), who specialises in the voice and singing.
I invite clients to discuss what might be causing the stress in their life, and use somatic methods to get to the heart of their physical and emotional experience.
I help them to understand, and then calm, sympathetic nervous system activation, by reducing stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline. Clients will learn how to tune into their body’s deep responses with the utmost respect and compassion, and then to ease discomfort or suffering by using techniques that engage the parasympathetic nervous system.
The benefits are immediate and empowering, as we can learn to access a sense of peace and innate wellbeing for ourselves.
We essentially bring the body and mind into the same place at the same time. When combined with a nature practice, this can have a profoundly healing effect, and it can decrease negative rumination, whilst re-energising the body.
I may work with a variety of somatic practices in response to each person’s unique needs, as appropriate. These might include:
– Somatic Inquiry
– Embodied presence and sensory invitations
– Attention Restoration methods
– Breath work
– Resonance
– Ho’oponopono
– Sensation-based sound-making/singing
– Seeking pleasure
– Shinrin Yoku (Forest Therapy) and the voice.
This approach integrates talking with effective, practical methods that will enable clients to speak or sing with pleasure. The benefits will extend through all aspects of life, and can complement other therapies or practices.
The sessions are confidential and trauma-informed.
I am available for online sessions or in-person, in a variety of locations across Bristol, UK.
