Donna named her practice, SOAKENCY SOUND HEALING to encompass a plethora of skills under one healing roof. She is an Associate Acutonics Practitioner, a Gong and Sound Practitioner as well as a practising Reiki Practitioner. Donna studied with The Acutonics® Institute of Integrative Medicine, gong and sound with Pauline Spiers – Sound Therapy Scotland and with Debra Kaatz in Cornwall (author of Characters Of Wisdom, Spiritual Acupuncture, Wild Flower Plant Spirits and Sacral-Cranial Touch). She gives thanks to all those mentioned above who shared their wisdom and love through teaching.
Acutonics is an integrative non-invasive approach to health care grounded in Oriental Medicine, cosmology, Taoist philosophy, depth psychology and sound healing principles. Acutonics uniquely integrates Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with planetary science and music theory. It uses acupuncture points and the meridian network of energy pathways (qi) as mapped by TCM, but introduces sound frequencies calculated to planetary orbital tones instead of the use of acupuncture needles. Each tuning fork is tuned to a specific astronomical vibration (e.g. Earth, Venus, Mars). Acupressure points provide non-invasive access into these core energy systems within the body. The planets provide musical intervals, archetypes, psychological depth, and correspondences that help us to fine-tune the therapeutic frequencies that are applied to the body. Each tuning fork in Acutonics corresponds not only to a frequency, but to a planetary archetype—a symbolic lens through which we interpret energy patterns. For example, the Moon may represent emotional cycles and subconscious themes, while Mars relates to action and boundary setting. Working with these archetypes invites clients to explore deeper psychological and spiritual dimensions. As above so below.
She combines these skills and knowledge within her own sound healing practise with Acutonics taking centre stage, with the belief that the human body can heal given the right circumstances.
From the hectic pace of running a PR/Marketing agency and teaching at the University of Creative Arts, she began to seek a slower pace of life, realising the need to prioritise health and spirit and to spend more time in nature and expressing her own creative talents. Donna creates artworks in her studio in Scotland using watercolours, oils, collage, mosaic and the odd bit of wood carving. Akin to the therapeutic benefits of Acutonics and sound, our connection to art is creatively evolving, pushing the psyche and subconscious boundaries – it is limitless.
Donna’s sound healing practice SOAKENCY SOUND HEALING, is located in an idyllic 18th Century cottage surrounded by woodlands, rivers and a plethora of wildlife in Scotland’s lowlands on the border of Cumbria and Scotland. She offers up her home to retreats and stays, combining treatments in Acutonics and sound therapy with making art and nature walks with the purpose to deliver relaxation for the body, mind and spirit. She is also often out in the local community offering Sound Journeys with planetary gongs, Tibetan bowls, chimes and other indigenous instruments.
Her intention is simple: to create meaningful and heartfelt healing experiences to deliver harmony to the nervous system & restore the body’s equilibrium to regain vitality, peace and for the body to remember its innate wisdom to heal itself.
