Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints. An affected joint is usually warm, swollen, painful, and movement is often difficult or uncomfortable. There are many different types of arthritis that have similar symptoms, but different causes.
Anorexia usually refers to the eating disorder ‘anorexia nervosa’, whereby the sufferer eats very little or does not eat at all, to the point of starvation in some cases.
Angina is a chest pain caused by an inadequate oxygen supply to the heart; usually caused by coronary artery disease, resulting from the deposition of fatty plaque deposits within the walls of the vessels supplying blood to the heart.
Allergy means ‘altered reactivity’ in which the body’s immune system reacts when exposed to a substance or factor to which the body is allergic. All systems of the body may be affected by allergy.
ADD / ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition characterised by persistent patterns of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. It is often diagnosed in childhood but can continue into adolescence and adulthood.
Acne is a skin condition that affects mostly males but also females as young as 12 and subsides around the age of 24 (though acne can occur in adulthood) affecting the face, neck, and shoulders.
