THE CRAFTY HERBALIST ACADEMY – HERBAL IMMERSION COURSE
The Crafty Herbalist Academy was founded by medical herbalist and educator Kristine De Block BSc (Hons), MNIMH, and offers an in-depth introduction to the art, science and practice of Western herbal medicine.
Drawing on clinical herbal medicine, traditional knowledge, plant energetics, modern research and practical remedy-making, the Herbal Immersion Course is designed to help students build a solid and confident foundation in working with medicinal plants.
HERBAL IMMERSION COURSE
The course is suitable for adults from all backgrounds and no previous herbal training is required. Students work through a series of in-depth modules covering the major body systems, herbal therapeutics, materia medica and practical home herbalism.
Modules include:
1. Rooted in Knowledge
An introduction to herbal medicine, its history, traditions and underlying principles.
2. Accessing Joy
Herbs for the nervous system, stress, sleep and emotional wellbeing.
3. A Beautiful Heart
Herbal approaches to cardiovascular health and circulation.
4. The Inner Fire
Digestive health, the gut and herbs traditionally used to support digestion.
5. Cleansing Rituals
The skin, elimination and herbal approaches to common skin conditions.
6. Breath of Life
The respiratory system and herbs used to support the lungs, throat and sinuses.
7. Natural Defences
The immune system, seasonal illness and allergic conditions.
8. Finding Balance
Hormonal health and herbal approaches throughout different stages of life.
9. Restoring Vitality
Adaptogens, tonics, stress, fatigue and constitutional resilience.
10. Kitchen Treasures
The medicinal uses of familiar culinary herbs and spices.
11. Winter’s Cloak
Seasonal herbal medicine for autumn and winter.
12. Treating Children with Natural Remedies
Safe and appropriate herbal approaches for babies, children and families.
13. Treating Elders with Natural Remedies
Herbal medicine considerations for older people, including safety, vitality and age-related changes.
Alongside the core course, students have access to regular live teaching, recorded classes, seasonal resources, practical remedy-making material and a supportive student community.
PRACTICAL LEARNING AND CERTIFICATION
Practical work is an important part of the Academy. Each module includes an assignment designed to help students apply what they have learned, develop their herbal thinking and gain experience using herbs and making remedies in everyday life.
There are no formal examinations. Students who complete the required modules, quizzes, assignments and final reflection receive a certificate of completion in Foundations of Herbal Medicine.
DISTANCE LEARNING WITH PROFESSIONAL HERBALIST SUPPORT
The course is delivered entirely online, allowing students to study at their own pace from anywhere in the world.
Teaching is led by Kristine De Block, a practising medical herbalist with more than 20 years’ clinical experience, and students are supported throughout their studies through the Academy’s teaching materials, live sessions and student community.
The Herbal Immersion Course is designed for those wishing to develop a thorough grounding in herbal medicine for personal, family and community use.
