Reviews for The Survivor's Guide To Bird Flu: The Complementary Medical Approach

"An important and much needed overview on the subject of bird flu and more importantly, how to protect yourself from it."
Dr Mark Atkinson, Integrated Medical Doctor

When I was first asked to review this book by Jayney Goddard, I knew I was in for a good read. Goddard is the President of the Complementary Medical Association and an authority on several aspects of Complementary Medicine.
. . . the book is a very good source of vital information that goes beyond ‘Bird Flu’, and I would recommend it for anyone who deals largely with the immune system as a specific area, and diseases that primarily affect it.

"Jayney Goddard has produced an exceptionally readable and informative book.  Technical terms and scientific research are clearly and simply explained throughout and the information is easily accessible to both the lay reader and those working in the health fields.
Although primarily aimed at how to survive bird flu this book can be widely used by all complementary health practitioners who want clear and concise information on promoting good health and well-being in their clients.  It is also useful for the general reader who is keen to improve their general health.

The author's extensive knowledge and practical advice combined with fascinating research into the history of pandemics and epidemics make this book compelling reading and as a practitioner in complementary therapies I am very glad that it has been written."
Lesley Lucas MSc, Massage Practitioner

“As a former Army Officer turned therapist I am deeply aware of the historical effect of diseases on armies. Generally, armies have suffered more casualties as a result of disease than they have from enemy action. A lot of times these casualties could have been prevented by taking basic precautions and analysing the potential threats and putting in place the appropriate response. I find this book an excellent threat analysis with a belt and braces approach, both pro-active and reactive, to surviving the bird-flu.”
Dan Kahn MSc, Bi-Aura Practitioner

" . . . Jayney Goddard's brilliantly informative 'The Survivors Guide to Bird Flu: The Complementary Medical Approach' arrived in the Round Up offices this week and is an authoritative and indispensable handbook for anyone concerned about a possible pandemic.

Containing over 500 scientific references and historical evidence backing up the authors recommendations, the book bridges the gap between complementary and conventional medicine and shows you what you can do, as an individual, to enhance your immune system and become as resistant to viral infection as possible. "

"The Book that everyone MUST buy!"

In the Know magazine - front page headline

This is a very well researched book on Bird Flu with considerable detail about the H5N1 virus, hundreds of medical references and information about the history of flu epidemics. If the hype is to be believed we could be confined to our homes, unable to get any food, and not able to go to work or school should a pandemic break out. There’s no doubt about it, there would be chaos!

If this worst scenario were to take place it is quite obvious that getting medication (Tamiflu) would be extremely difficult. And that’s if it even works! There has been debate among the scientific community as to whether this medication will be effective in fighting Avian Flu, even if there were enough supplies.

Jayney makes a very good case for protecting yourself from the flu strain before it arrives, as well as what to do after it has taken hold. Initially she advocates:

• Healthy eating and lifestyle
• Nutritional supplements
• Excellent hygiene
• Herbal medicine
• Homeopathy
• Aromatherapy

And she makes the point that even if the outbreak never happens people who follow this kind of lifestyle are more likely to fight all kinds of illness including cancer and heart disease. As this approach does not involve unnecessary drugs with side-effects there are no health problems associated with it.
